Investment decisions should be based on the long-term goals of each client. Short-term thinking can adversely affect any situation. In today’s complex world of investing, my goal is to help educate our clients about our investment process.

— Christopher J. Miller

With his extensive knowledge of asset allocation, Modern Portfolio Theory and managed accounts, Chris provides due diligence and portfolio monitoring for our clients. He also oversees client investments and provides research on the financial markets and investment companies.

Having worked with Alan since 1992, Chris became a partner with Personal Wealth Advisory, LLC, in 2008. In an industry where employees frequently transition from firm to firm, his longevity with PWA provides much appreciated relationship continuity for our clients.

What’s the biggest challenge with financial planning?

Reassuring clients that it is okay to stay the course and resist making changes during times of market fluctuations. With the volatility in the markets that we have experienced during the past decade, we advise our clients to be patient and not to react to short-term bumps in the road.  An investment plan should be focused on your goals and not the next great idea or best return.

What do you do for fun?

Attending my sons’ sporting events, cheering on any Pittsburgh team, and spending time on the golf course.

What would you be doing if you weren’t at PWA?

Since I have been with Alan and the company since college graduation, I can’t imagine doing anything else. However, I have often considered becoming the next “Jerry Maguire” or any other sports agent.

What’s the most influential book you’ve read?

The Traveler’s Gift. The seven decisions have provided the blue print for me to live my life to its fullest potential as a husband, father, friend, and co-worker.

What personal accomplishments are you most proud of?

My family means the world to me. My wife and I love watching our boys as they develop into young men of faith and integrity.
